Buyers guide - where can a stove go?
The tempting answer is 'almost anywhere' as stoves come in a
wide range of sizes, heat outputs, designs and materials.
- We can remove your existing fireplace and
prepare the opening to accept your new stove. Whether it is a free
standing or inset stove.
- Some fireplaces
need no alteration and we can fit your stove beautifully into an
existing opening.
- Some houses or new builds have no
existing fireplace and we can install an artificial flue
system and have the stove free standing in the room. This is
how they are usually installed on the continent.
- In some of these examples shown here you can
see we have boxed the flue system in and created an artificial
chimney breast.
But there are some restrictions, both practical and sensible. A
stove should not be too large for the space it is intended to heat.
That just leads to one purchasing a bigger and more expensive stove
than necessary. But a stove should not be too small for the space
and requirements you may have. Too small a stove can lead to
over-firing and this not only uses too much fuel but can damage the
door rope, the glass and even the stove itself.
A stove might go in a conservatory attached to your
house. it adds a focal point to what is often a large space and
allows you to use your conservatory in the colder months.
And even in a period caravan...........
